The next training cycle pushes accuracy further with sharper generation parameters and a tighter evaluation loop. Same architecture class, noticeably cleaner output.
A second variant ships in parallel: a distilled real time model small enough to run on commodity hardware. The goal is fast, free, accessible Iu Mien translation anywhere a browser opens.

Modern AI quality lives or dies by the corpus behind it. Iu Mien has historically been excluded from mainstream multilingual datasets. We are closing that gap.
Three lanes are opening: everyday conversational language, a community contributed living dictionary covering modern lexicon, and pronunciation metadata that powers the voice work below.
Every additional sentence pair raises the floor of what AI can do for Hmong-Mien speakers, the diaspora, and researchers studying low resource language preservation.
Smarter learning system.
The current course is twenty hand built levels covering vocabulary, sentence translation, and word ordering. It works but it does not yet adapt.
Next iteration brings spaced repetition. Words you struggle with come back exactly when memory starts to fade. Words you have mastered drop out of rotation. The system learns you while you learn the language.
Beyond drills, we are building branching dialogue practice rooted in real diaspora life. Conversations you actually have with family, in shops, at festivals.
Voice and tone.
Iu Mien is tonal. Reading romanized text without hearing it loses critical meaning. Audio is not a nice to have, it is required infrastructure.
Every dictionary entry gets paired with native speaker audio. Listening drills join the course. A tone aware speech model checks not just the words you speak but the pitch contour you produce, with visual feedback when a tone slips.
This is one of the first interactive tone training pipelines targeting an endangered Hmong-Mien language. The methods here generalize.
